The Tour of Omagh 3 day race for A4 and women as well as the Ulster 10 miles time trial championships and Ulster Youth TT/RR championships takes place this weekend.

Ulster 10 miles time trial championship – 29 July

Ballymena Road Club host the Ulster 10 miles time trial championship on the Frocess course on Sunday. More details can be seen here

Sign on location : Apple Green, 153 Crankill Rd, Ballymena BT44 9HA

Please use the lorry stop. DO NOT park on the main premises fore court, this is reserved for shop customers. I.e. when entering gate turn left onto gravel parking area.

Pre- registration via Race Pass is compulsory, no entries will be accepted on the day!

NOTE: Due to some very serious accidents at Cycling Ireland time trial events, Pre entry, with all warning notes, guides and regulations is the only way riders will be allowed to start this event. We want to have all our riders aware of where they are going, what we require of them, and make them fully aware of any risks involved. Your safety is our number one priority. We will no longer accept riders signing on on the day of the event. Please do not ask as refusal will cause disappointment.

Please leave sign on area clean and tidy. We are relying on the goodwill of Applegreen to run our events.

Your car must remain at Applegreen and riders will turn right and proceed northwards approximately 1 mile to the starting lay-by. At BT44 9RB. Parking at the start Lay-by is strictly only for the Organisers Marshalls and timekeepers. You MUST ride to the start from the sign on area, your time will NOT be recorded if you ignore this.

Race rules and requirements

1. A minimum of a limited competition licence is required. Categories for Ulster Medals are Elite Men, Elite Women, Master Women, M40, M50 and M60 and Juniors.

Course details

The course will begin at the lay-by before the Glarryford turn off, it will proceed north to the roundabout approximately 4.5 miles away, turn exactly 180 degrees back past where the rider started a distance of approximately 5.5 miles to finish just above the Tullyreagh road.
Tea coffee sandwiches and refreshments available for competitors after there run and trophy presentation after all times are in.

Ulster Youth TT / RR Championships – 29 July

Hosted by – Island Wheelers Cycling Club

The Entry Fee for the 2 Races is £15.00 per rider online.

All riders are encouraged to register online.

On the Day Entry Fee -£10 per race

First (1st) rider off at 10.00am

The first event is the Individual Time Trial a 2.5 mile (4.0km) straight course. This test begins on the Teagy Road (part of race course) and finishes just outside Race HQ. First rider is off at 10.00am.

Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to Boys and Girls in the following categories….U11/U12/U13/U14/U15/U16

Riders will be set off in Age groups starting with U11 – U12 – U13 – U14 – U15 and U16.

IMPORTANT NOTICE…..There will be gear checks at the end of the TT …..anyone who fails to get their gears checked will be given the time of the slowest rider.

Ulster Youth Road Race

The Road race is on the Annaghamore circuit which is a fast rolling circuit which has all left turns, the circuit is 7.2 miles (11.6km)

The race starts/finishes at Race HQ (Clive Richardson Ltd (C.R.L.) 54 Derrycoose Rd, Portadown, Craigavon BT62 1LY) for a complete circuit with all left turns at all junctions. The course is quite fast with a few rolling sections.

Boys and Girls – All age group races will be run as separate events

U11 and U12’s will race will race one lap (1 lap) Race start at 1.02pm

U13 and U14’s will race two laps (2 laps) Race start at 1.00pm

U15 and U16’s will race five laps (4 laps) Race start at 2.00pm

Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to Boys and Girls in the following categories….U11/U12/U13/U14/U15/U16

ALL races will finish at Race HQ.

Please note there will be no changing facilities at the Race HQ. Portaloo’s will be made available at Race HQ only. Due to the nature of the venue we will not be providing food/refreshment’s but hope to have a cash tea/coffee/snacks vendor on site.

There is ample parking at Race HQ and we ask all car drivers to park responsibly and refrain from parking on the TT/Race course.
