Cycling Ulster Youth Commission in association with McConvey Cycles are hosting a very unique day of cycling on Saturday 23rd June at the Eikon Arena on the site of the old Maze Prison.

The event will feature all the different cycling disciplines, as the various Cycling Ulster Commission’s work together to showcase the wonderful sport of cycling.

At the centre of the event will be a series of youth races on closed roads and offering something for all ages.

The Festival of Youth Cycling will incorporate three different types of race into one day of action at this premier venue.

On the day children from the following age categories; U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14 and U-16 will race on closed roads in the following races:

  • Time Trials incorporating a 250m Street Sprint and a 1.5Km TT
  • Criterium on an almost 2km Circuit and
  • Elimination Race on a short circuit

Boys and Girls will have their own races.

Prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third in each individual discipline.

At the end of event an overall winner for each age category will be announced with the winners, both boys and girls, receiving a specially commissioned jersey as part of their prize.

The Under 8 and 10 Races will be about participation and fun and will accommodate all abilities on any type of bike

The U-12 to U-16 races will be part of the Cycling Ulster Youth League and will allow for fantastic racing in very safe surroundings.

Throughout the day the Track and Off Road Commission will also be present to showcase their disciplines with loads of games and activities introducing kids to the other cycling disciplines.
