Hi Everyone,

On the 13th September this year I will have been with BT for 40 years, I will be 58 on 11th October ( and married to Val for 30 years on 15th September! ) to mark this occasion I will be raising funds for the http://www.belfasthospitalschool.org.uk
I have been associated with cross country mountain bike cycling for the last twelve years which came about through my son Stuart’s involvement with XMTB/McConvey Cycles, to cut a long story short I ended up being chairman for 5 years and was involved in setting up a development team to race in the UK, this has proved very successful and culminated in me being asked to manage an Ulster Mountain Bike team last year to race in the UK national league, (I should add with a huge amount of support from my wife Val).

After a very busy time last year I decided to take a step back from my involvement with cycling and spend more time with my family which has somehow resulted in me taking part in the Stena line triathlon, go figure!

The Stena line Triathlon is at the Valley leisure centre in Newtownabbey on Sunday 4th September at 09:00. It consists of a 750m swim, a 20k cycle and a 5k run. I have never done anything like this before so it will be a challenge. I have engaged the services of my son Stuart who is an Elite Mountain Bike Racer and has just graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in Sport and Exercise Science.

I have been following a 12-week training schedule which Stuart devised and so far so good, I have really noticed the benefits both physically and mentally and so far have enjoyed the training (most days).
If you would like to donate please use this website https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/jeffreyballantine1 or feel free to approach me at any of the races, many thanks for your support

Jeff Ballantine
