It’s been fantastic to see so many women getting involved in the Women’s Intro to CX League. Our first two training sessions have had brilliant energy and engagement, with plenty of beginner riders coming along to try cyclo-cross for the very first time.
A huge thank you goes to Martin Grimley and Gary McKeegan for their excellent coaching and guidance. From practising dismounts and remounts to building confidence through corners, these sessions have been a brilliant introduction to the sport and a great way to prepare for the league ahead.
What’s Next
-
Next training session: Saturday, 4th October. 4pm for course walk
-
Round 1: Sunday, 5th October, the opening league round at Orangefield
These opportunities are the perfect way to get comfortable on the bike, meet other women who are new to CX, and get a feel for what to expect on race day.
League Format
The Women’s Intro to CX League will run over six rounds, with riders’ best three results counting towards the final standings. Points will be awarded as follows:
-
1st place: 20 points
-
2nd place: 18 points
-
3rd place: 16 points
-
4th place: 14 points
…and so on down the field.
This format is designed to keep things fun and flexible, so you don’t have to make every round to be part of the league.
