Community Bike Rides is a Cycling Ireland initiative focused on making cycling more welcoming and accessible through friendly, social group rides led by trained volunteers.
These rides are ideal for beginners, returning cyclists, or those who simply enjoy shorter, more relaxed spins.

We know that within every club there are people who are passionate about encouraging others, sharing their local knowledge, and helping new cyclists gain confidence on the bike.

We are currently recruiting new Community Bike Ride Leaders and have an upcoming Ride Leader training course taking place:

Pomeroy Forest, Dungannon
30th May 2026

The course is a one-day training programme designed to give volunteers the skills and confidence to lead safe, welcoming group rides in their local area.

We are pleased to offer a number of funded spaces for Cycling Ireland members who are interested in becoming Community Bike Ride Leaders.

As a Ride Leader, volunteers will:
*Lead friendly, beginner-focused group rides
*Help grow cycling participation locally
*Support people who may not yet feel ready for traditional club spins
*Become part of a supportive national network of Ride Leaders
