Race Report: Rás Mumhan
The Cycling Ulster Junior squad travelled to Kerry over Easter Weekend to participate in Rás Mumhan, a prestigious multi-stage race in Ireland, attracting domestic and international riders.
The team consisted of:
James Armstrong
Adam Matthews
Caleb McGreevy
Curtis McKee
Elliot McKeegan
Riley Smith
Despite losing two riders to illness, the squad performed well over the weekend.
This was notable as these junior riders competed against an international field, which included many senior, experienced competitors.
Representing their province well, the team’s main goal was rider development and gaining experience.
Challenging weather conditions, with 4 seasons in every stage, increased the race’s difficulty.
This, combined with the mountainous Kerry landscape, meant each stage was hard-fought and provided invaluable learning for our riders.
This experience at Rás Mumhan prepares the Ulster juniors for their next major event, the Junior Tour of Ireland.
Well done to the Cycling Ulster Team and all the Ulster riders who competed on other teams👏👏👏
