Her Outdoors Week 2024
During August some Clubs hosted female only events to celebrate the Sport Ireland initiative #HerOutdoors Week. The events were aimed at empowering more women to find freedom and joy on two wheels.
There was an assortment of events to pick from, including bike rides, bike skills and bike maintenance sessions.

💃🏼Monday 12th September
Community Bike Rides
On Monday 12th August ride leader Donna hosted a community bike ride for women. The ride started at Rossmore Coffee Doc, Rossmore Park and took in some of the beautiful Ulster Canal Greenway. The group cycled to Sam’s Bridge for a wee coffee/ice-cream stop before returning back to Rossmore Park.
Donegal Bay Cycling Club
On Monday Donegal Bay had a great wee turnout for the Ladies Bike Skills and Cycle. The evening started with the ladies practising some basics bike skills and handling techniques before heading on a short cycle.
The evening finished off with tae and coffee and a great spread of food.
Lagan Valley Cycling Club
On Monday evening Lagan Valley CC hosted a fun evening for women and children in Wallace Park, Lisburn. The sun was shining and it was a great evening to be outdoors and on bikes. The session finished with everyone enjoying some refreshments before heading home with a big smile!

Tuesday 13th August
Ards Cycling Club
On Tuesday 13th Ards CC hosted a cycle for beginner and returning female rider and it was great to see some familiar faces making a return!
Community Bike Rides
On Tuesday ride leader Gemma hosted a women’s only bike ride followed by pizza at the Bullhouse East.
DB Cycling Club
On Tuesday and Thursday evening DB cycling club hosted two bike maintenance nights which had a great turnout. 30 ladies joined the ‘Feel Good Bicycles’ guys to learn all things bike related

Wednesday 14th August
Oona Wheelers
On Wednesday Oona Wheelers held an evening cycle that catered for a wide range of abilities. The cycle was followed by some pizza and craic!
Ards Cycling Club
On Wednesday Ards CC hosted a Bike Maintenance Session open to local female cyclists. A good number of women attended and found the evening very beneficial, especially the goodies they got to take home! 🤗
Lagan Valley Cycling Club
Lagan Valley CC held a women’s only cycle on the Wednesday evening. A group of women got together for a lovely social cycle out to the Lough with a stop for some delicious cake and tea. A great evening had by all.

Thursday 15th August
Errigal Cycling Club
On Thursday Errigal Cycling club were very busy looking after a large group enjoying a cycle. Riders were treated to Strawberry & cream mid way followed by light refreshments afterwards.

Saturday 17th August
Agivey Cycling Club
Agivey Cycling club opted for a family affair, inviting mums, daughters, sisters and even grannies on their cycle in Garvagh Forest with refreshments afterwards. Despite the rain everyone enjoyed themselves!
Mullaghmeen Mountain biking club
Mullaghmeen MBC offered a women’s only Mountain Biking Taster session in Mullaghmeen Forest which was enjoyed so much by the riders that they are planning on offering a follow up session! Keep your eyes peeled for more details.

Sunday 18th August
Ards Cycling Club
On the final day of the week Ards Cycling Club hosted a Tour de France Femmes watch party in the Errigal Inn, Belfast. It was great to see members from different local clubs coming together to watch the final stage together. Looking forward to next year!
