Cycling Ulster recently hosted a Track Development Day at the world-class Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, giving riders the chance to experience one of the fastest indoor tracks in Europe.
It was a fantastic day for all involved, with riders coached by Gary McKeegan and Callum from the Velodrome team, who shared their expertise on everything from track positioning, pacing, and sprint techniques to bike handling, gear selection, and group riding etiquette. The session gave participants a valuable insight into the unique discipline of track cycling and helped build confidence for those looking to progress in the sport.
Days like this play a key role in developing the next generation of Ulster riders and were especially inspiring in light of Lara Gillespie’s recent World Championship medal. A reminder of the exciting opportunities that can come from exploring different cycling disciplines.
Cycling Ulster would like to thank all the riders and coaches for making it such a successful and enjoyable session.
