Cycling Ulster is keen to build on the success of the coaching programme delivered by a number of clubs during the summer of 2025.
Throughout the initiative, participating clubs hosted weekday evening sessions designed to introduce young riders to cycling in a fun, safe, and off-road environment. Each session featured a purpose-built course where children could develop key off-road cycling skills through guided coaching activities and some short friendly races to put their new skills into practice.
The programme proved highly successful in engaging children, helping to grow confidence and spark interest in the upcoming cyclocross events at the start of the season.
By linking coaching and competition in this way, the sessions provided a smooth and enjoyable pathway from learning to racing, an important step in developing the next generation of young riders.

Building on this momentum, Cycling Ulster is now inviting additional clubs across the province to get involved in 2026.
The aim is to expand the programme from late July through to the end of August, providing more opportunities for young riders to experience the excitement of off-road cycling close to home.
By stepping up to host a session, clubs can play a key role in developing grassroots participation, strengthening links with other clubs, and helping to sustain the long-term growth of youth cycling in Ulster.
Cycling Ulster will offer support in terms of facility booking, equipment, the use of coaches, session planning and promotion as required.
