Phoenix CC promoted a feast of road racing today when they ran their annual George Rooney Phoenix Grand Prix Sponsored by Portview Fit-out Ltd. on the testing Nutts Corner Circuit. First into the fray were the A4 riders who competed over four laps of the circuit. There were a number of attempts at a breakaway but few breaks lasted long.
With many new racers out to prove themselves the pace was high. In the end one rider, Stephen Mullan of North West CC, managed to get a slim lead on the field to take the win. The bunch sprint sorted out the next placings with Timmy Burns of North Down in second place and Sean Mullan of Clogher Valley Wheelers in third.
