Ulster Youth CX Summer Series 2026 – Everything You Need to Know
The Ulster Youth CX Summer Series, is back for another exciting summer of fun, skills and off-road cycling.
Designed specifically for young riders, the series provides a welcoming introduction to cyclocross while helping children develop confidence, improve their bike handling skills and enjoy riding in a safe, supportive environment.
Whether your child is completely new to cycling, has experience riding off-road, or is already racing cyclocross, everyone is welcome.
Why Take Part?
Cyclocross is one of the best cycling disciplines for developing fundamental riding skills that benefit young cyclists across every aspect of the sport.
The series has been designed to:
- Build confidence on the bike.
- Improve balance, cornering and bike handling skills.
- Introduce young riders to cyclocross in a relaxed environment.
- Encourage children to make new friends through cycling.
- Provide short, fun events suitable for all abilities.
- Create a pathway into the autumn and winter cyclocross season.
- Give children the opportunity to ride in safe, traffic-free locations.
Each evening combines racing with skill development, creating an enjoyable experience for both newcomers and experienced riders alike.
Who Can Take Part?
The series is open to young riders aged 6 years and over.
Whether it’s your child’s first taste of cyclocross or they’re already competing regularly, the focus is on participation, enjoyment and developing confidence.
Entry Fees
Cycling Ireland Members
Once you have a valid Cycling Ireland Membership, entry to each round is:
£2.00 (plus the Eventmaster booking fee)
First Time Riders
If you’re not yet a Cycling Ireland member, you will be prompted to buy a 2026 license at the time of purchasing, at £9. Your first round is included in this price.
How to Enter
Entries for all rounds are available online via EventMaster.
Online entry is recommended as many riders register during the final few days before each event.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a cyclocross bike?
No. Most young riders can take part on a mountain bike, hybrid bike or cyclocross bike that is in good working order.
What should riders bring?
- A roadworthy bike
- Helmet (compulsory)
- Suitable clothing for the weather
- Water bottle
- Plenty of enthusiasm
Is this suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. The series has been created to welcome riders of all abilities, with shorter races and plenty of encouragement for those trying cyclocross for the first time.
Can I ride more than one round?
Yes! Riders are encouraged to attend as many rounds as possible throughout the summer, improving their skills and experiencing different courses across the province.
