Ards CC and Cycling Ulster are excited to bring the Ards Town Centre Races and the Ulster Criterium Championships to Newtownards Town Centre.
A special mention must go to Ards and North Down Borough Council for their support and willingness to allow Ards CC the opportunity to once again provide an evening of fast and furious racing on a specially arranged closed-road circuit.
Traffic management will commence the road closure process shortly after 5pm, with the evening’s festivities kicking off at 6pm, with a fun event for parents and children, offering a taste of closed-road cycling.
Racing is open to all Cycling Ireland racing licences from across the country.
Not only do we welcome Ulster riders to compete for coveted Ulster medals, but riders from all other provinces are also welcome to compete for prize money and valuable ranking points.
We have also arranged for Ulster women who do not normally race to experience the excitement of a closed-circuit race through a specially arranged exhibition event.
This race will be open to all Limited Competition and Leisure licence holders (a one-day licence will be required for leisure licence holders).
Women who hold a Full Competition licence may enter this event if they wish, however, to compete for Ulster Championship medals, they will be required to enter the main championship race.
We would like to thank Cycling Ireland for their cooperation in helping to make this possible.
