Two road races, the East Tyrone GP and Bann Valley Classic, the opening round of the Ernie Magwood Super Six TT series and the first round of the Ulster XC MTB Series take place this weekend.

 

East Tyrone GP – Saturday 14th April

East Tyrone C.C. will be running three separate races;

A – Race: (A1, A2 categories) limited to 80 riders (handicapped). A – Race, 6 laps (9.4 miles/lap)

B – Race: (A3 categories) limited to 75 riders. B – Race, 5 laps (9.4 miles/lap)

C – Race: (A4 category) limited to 80 riders. C – Race, 4 laps (9.4 miles/lap)

As stated, entry for each race is limited to 80, 75 & 80 riders respectively. Riders should assume that their entry has been accepted unless they are notified by email that their entry has been placed on the reserve list.

The entry fee is £15.00 (€20)

Sign on will take place at the Loup GAC, 111 Ballyneill Road, Loup, Moneymore BT45 7TE with changing facilities and car-parking. Sign on available from 10:00 – 11:00. Races begin at 12:30pm

 

U16 – Race: 3 laps (9.4 miles/lap)

U14 – Race: 2 laps (9.4 miles/lap)

Sign on takes place in the Loup GAC from 09:00 – 09:30. Races begin at 10:00.

The entry fee is £5 (€10) which is paid on the day of the race.

 

Ladies & Masters Race (combined): 4 laps (9.4 miles/lap)

Sign on the day from 09:00 – 09:30. Race begins at 10:00. The entry fee is £15 (€20)

Ernie Magwood Super Six TT Series Round 1 – Sunday 15th April

Round 1 of the 2018 Ernie Magwood Super 6 league takes place at WOODGREEN on Sunday 15th April.  Sign on is from 09:00 first rider off at 10:00 Pre entry is compulsory.

Riders will require a minimum of a limited competition licence, and also a rear light. (Front light also advisable)

All other tt rules apply. No warming up on course after 10am, no passing timekeeper, no drafting or white lining. Please treat all riders, officials and volunteers with respect if you wish to return.
Sign on is from 9am. First rider off at 10am. Riders will start in order of sign on, priority will be given to hand cyclists.

Prizes for fastest overall, ladies, vets, juniors and hand cyclist.

Qualifying riders riding 5/6 events will be eligible for prizes in the following categories;

Ulster XC MTB Series Round 1 – Sunday 15th April

Course Description:
To accommodate building works for the new swimming pool, this year sees the course move from the South Lake to the North Lake, using Tannaghmore Gardens as Race HQ. The brand new course, incorporates some of the course used in 2015, along with some brand new natural sections and a mixture of existing trails and pathways. The main course layout is challenging but offers interest to riders of all skill levels, whilst the youth courses incorporate some of the adult course.

Located at the Tannaghmore Gardens Farm/Museum, which is off Tannaghmore Gardens Rd, adjacent to Silverwood Road Industrial Estate, Lurgan. If leaving the M1 motorway, come off at junction 10 and follow the signs for Craigavon Centre. At the Ballynamony Road roundabout, take the second exit for Tannaghmore Garden.

Senior beginners (S3 women – S4 men)
The sport will only grow when we attract new people to give cross-country racing a ‘go’.
For 2018 both the Senior 4 men and Senior 3 women have a reduced entry fee as per a proposal passed at the 2017 Cycling Ulster Off-road Commission AGM.
Also for 2018 the Senior 3 women’s race will share the Under 14s course as per a proposal passed at the 2017 Cycling Ireland Off-road Commission AGM.
Both the Senior 4 men and Senior 3 women’s races should last less than 50 minutes.

Gridding: There will be no gridding for Round 1 of the 2018 Ulster XC series.

Notes: Ensure bicycles are in good working order and that bar-ends have been fitted.
No electric bikes or motorised bicycles permitted.
