There are two road racing events in Ulster this weekend, Groucho’s GP on Saturday and the Dunloy GP on Sunday. There is also a BMX and Enduro event on offer. Further information below.

Groucho’s GP – Saturday 12th May

Sign on in Groucho’s Bar will be available from 10am and will close at 11:30am.

Rolling out from the sign on at 12pm the ‘A’ race will be neutralised to the outskirts of Richhill village following the traditional anticlockwise 8.3 mile lap. 7 will be completed in total giving a total distance of 58.4 miles.

As in previous years the ‘A’ race will finish up in the Square outside Groucho’s Bar.

All other competitors will follow the ‘roll out’ to the start/finish point of their races which is on the outskirts of Hamiltonsbawn.

The A4’s will complete 5 laps of the course giving a total of 41.5 miles.
In the event of an over subscription in the A4 race, priority will be given to riders who have also entered our Crit, on a ‘first come first served’ basis.

The Masters and Women’s events are part of the respective Cycling Ulster league’s and will be run under those rules and regulations. Sign-on on the day is available.

Tea, Coffee, Sandwiches and refreshments will be provided for all before the prize giving in the ‘Beer Garden’ at the rear of Groucho’s Bar.

 

Dunloy GP – Sunday 13th May (Enter on Cycling Ireland website)

Dunloy Cycling Club are delighted to announce that their Annual GP Open Races will take place on Sunday 13th May in Dunloy village using the testing 18 Miles ‘Millbrae’ Circuit.

4 races each with a separate prize fund will be promoted:
Race 1: Combined A1&A2 Categories (72 miles)
Race 2: Category A3 (72 miles)
Race 3: Category A4 (54 miles)
Race 4: Combined M50 Masters & Women (36 miles)

Entries will be accepted from holders of the appropriate CI racing Licence and comparable licences from other National Federations. NB: Juniors are NOT eligible to enter any race in this event.

Entry is via the Cycling Ireland Azolve race Entry System. The cost of entry is £14 Online and £15 on the day if spaces are available. Each Race is limited to 80 Riders.

Sign-on will take place from 11:30am in Dunloy GAC Clubrooms on the Bridge Road with Race 1 starting at 1pm sharp, each race will then subsequently commence after a short gap.

Prizes will be presented with Tea/Coffee and refreshments immediately after the finish of the last race.

Vitus First Tracks Enduro Cup Round 2 – Bigwood – 12/13th May 2018

Bigwood near Warrenpoint is set in the grounds of the idyllic Narrow water Castle. Always the favourite on the circuit because of the easy transitions and natural flowy singletrack. Some new sections planned as always to keep the locals on their toes.
