Cycling Ulster have selected five riders to represent the province at next week’s Rás na mBan.

The five day international women’s race which is based in Kilkenny contains road races, a time trial and a circuit race.

The race attracts some of the top women’s teams in Europe and further afield.

The Ulster team includes this year’s Killinchy GP winner and fourth overall finisher in the Cycling Ireland National Road Series, Jemma Speers. The squad also contains the winner of the opening stage of the Newry 3 Day and yellow jersey wearer, Darcey Harkness, Commonwealth Games para-triathlon competitor, Catherine Sands, Irish junior international, Erin Creighton and Amelia Tyler who finished fifth in the final round of the Cycling Ireland National Road Series.

Cycling Ulster Road Commission Chairperson and Team Manager for the event, Frank Campbell said:

“We have selected a strong team for this year’s Rás na mBan and hope that we can replicate the performances of the last Ulster team to compete in the event in 2019 that won the Irish Team Classification.

“The Ulster women have already had success this season in the Newry 3 Day and we’re looking forward to having the opportunity to compete against a top class field next week.”

Thanks to the volunteers who will travel in support of the squad and our sponsors, O’Reilly Stewart Solicitors and Donnelly Group.
