Five riders have been selected to represent Cycling Ulster in next week’s Junior Tour of Ireland.

The six day international stage race attracts some of the top under 18 male riders in Europe and further afield.

The Ulster team is made up of Darragh Doherty, Sean Gallagher, Travis Harkness, Curtis Neill and Jamie Moss.

Neill was in excellent form at the recent Newry 3 Day, winning the King of the Hills Competition and finishing fourth on the general classification.

At the Irish National Junior Road Race Championships at the end of June, Darragh Doherty was the best of the Ulster squad, just missing out on a medal when he finished fourth.

Cycling Ulster Road Commission Chair, Frank Campbell said:

“The Junior Tour is one of the best under 18 races in Europe and it provides our riders with the opportunity to gain experience of international racing.

“All of the riders have been showing great potential and I am looking forward to the event.”

This year’s race is based in Co. Clare and will get underway with a circuit race on Tuesday 12th July with riders covering over 500km in the six stages.

The Ulster team kit for the event is sponsored by O’Reilly Stewart Solicitors and support vehicles have been provided by Donnelly Group.

Cycling Ulster wishes the riders and support staff the best of luck in the race.
