The Cycling Ulster Road Commission have announced details of a new season long provincial rankings system for time triallists. This will replace the Best All Rounder system that ranked riders based on their fastest times over 10, 25, 50 and 100 miles.

The new rankings system will include all open time trials in the province. The top 40 riders will receive points with extra points on offer in Ulster championships and in events over 25 miles. Individual categories will not receive points of their own, it will all be based on a rider’s overall position.

The rankings system will reward riders for consistency throughout the season while also putting an added emphasis on finishing position rather than riders chasing times on fast courses.

In order for the system to accurately reflect riders performances, it requires the support of event organisers. Open time trial promoters should send their results to Noel McLoughlin (noel.mcloughlin63@gmail.com) and Gordon Parker (gordonballymena@btinternet.com).

2018 time trial results and the new rankings system will be available on dedicated pages on the Cycling Ulster website.
