John Beggs and Sean McGreevey Memorial Races Dromore

There was a big turnout on Saturday for the John Beggs and Sean McGreevey Memorial races in Dromore on Saturday hosted by Banbridge CC. A group broke away early on in the A race and increased their lead over the seven laps of the tough, hilly ten mile cicuit. This group included Bo Graham, Tommy Evans and Brendan Doherty (Planet X), tony McConville (Wheels in Motion/Fuji Bikes), Willie Hamilton (Audi/East Antrim), Ryan Connor (DFL) Bob Moore (Stamullan) and Tommy Wilson (Ballymena RC)/ On the penultimate lap, Ryan Connor jumped from the bunch at hte line and managed to hold off the chasers to the line too win the A race from Bob Moore and Tommy Evans. Willie Hamilton took the sprint from Brendan Graham to fill fifth and sixth positions
In the B race Adam Petrie-Armstrong (Northern/Dave Kane), Paul Hanna (Total Cycling), Alastair Steele (UA) and Nigel Quigley (Bann Wheelers) took an erly lead. They were hotly chased by Jim McConnell(Audi/East Antrim)and Gordon Scott (Kings Moss), Mark Brown (Slane Cycles), William Barr (Ballymena), Michael Murray (Clann Eireann, Jim Hegarty (Phoenix CC), Alistair Martin (Ards CC) and Norman Campbell. This group fought hard throughout to chase the leaders but to no avail. In the sprint for the line Adam Petrie Armstrong took the title from Paul Hanna.

There was a two-up time trial in the Under 16 race between Simon Williams (Sean Downey (Banbridge) and Thomas Martin (Clann Eireann) who left the rest of the field clear from the off. Halfway into the final lap Thomas broke clear and won the race in fine style with Sean Downey taking a worthy second position.

There was excitement also in the Under 12 and Under 14 races with wins for Niall McAree and Peter Williams.

Trudy Brown rode superbly in the Women's race, emerging a worthy winner. Erin Turkington seems fully recovered from her racing in Malta and took second place. It was good to see Frieda Brown out again. let's hope she'll soon be back in full racing form.
