The Cycling Ulster Executive has identified a need to establish a Leisure Commission for the Ulster region.

AIMS

The key aims of the Leisure Commission include, but are not limited to the following:

– be a voice for leisure cyclists in your region and identify solutions to meet their needs

– encourage and enhance cyclist and road safety

– define and manage projects that will support and encourage leisure cyclists, at all levels

– manage the leisure calendar to ensure an even distribution of events taking place in the Ulster region with minimum clashes in partnership with the national leisure commission

Other aims may be defined and agreed by the Leisure Commission over time.

EXPECTATIONS AND COMMISSION FORMATION

The Leisure Commission will be expected to meet bi-monthly via zoom and will be chaired by Joanna Gray, Cycling Ulster Executive.  Other officers will include a vice-chair, secretary and treasurer.

The initial meeting will discuss and agree terms of reference for the group going forward.

It is anticipated that a representative will be selected from each county across the Ulster region with a maximum of 12 members appointed.

It is expected that the commission representatives will stay for a minimum period of two years.
