Cycling Ulster Executive representatives met Harps CC recently regarding remarks made by on social media following the women’s league race promoted by Harps CC on 22nd April 2018.

Cycling Ulster Vice Chairman, Tommy McCague said:
“We would like to extend our apologies to Harps CC for comments made by Executive members regarding the fact that prizes were not awarded for the placed riders in the Women’s League race. The Cycling Ulster Executive acknowledge that the Cycling Ireland Technical Rules and Regulations, as currently written, does not require clubs to offer prizes in respect of individual races which form part of Non Open League Events. The Cycling Ulster Executive would like to thank Harps CC for their hard work and promotion of the sport, something the club has been involved in for years.”

A statement clarifying the regulations will be issued to other clubs who are promoting rounds of the Master’s and/or Women’s League in due course.
