There has been some confusion regarding the awarding of prizes to placed riders of individual events in both the Masters and Women’s leagues.

As the Cycling Ireland Technical rule G8:11 and Glossary Definition of these, currently stands clubs do not have to award prizes to the winners of league races.

Cycling Ulster recommends that clubs promoting a round of either the Masters’ or Women’s League events follow the guidelines outlined below.

1.       If the club does not intend to award prizes on the day this should be communicated to the organisers of the respective leagues prior to the event taking place to avoid any misunderstanding on the day.

2.       The results of the Masters/Women’s league are published with all the other results and placed riders are called to the podium for photographs.

3.       If clubs charge an entry fee for participation in one of the league events Cycling Ulster recommends that they consider making a donation in lieu of prizes to the organisers of the respective leagues in the interest of equality towards under-represented groups.
