Cycling Ulster is saddened to hear of the death of Andy Young who passed away on Saturday morning in the Marie Curie Hospice with his wife Lee-Anne by his side.
Andy was a enthusiastic Club cyclist and was an active member of North Down CC and in recent years Bikehouse CC. He was much loved by his family and will be much missed by all his cycling friends with who will miss his wicked sense of humour and craic. Andy never took anything too seriously.
Cycling Ulster is also indebted to Andy and has fond memories of him from our major cycle races throughout the province. Andy was often to be seen as the driver of the lead car of the escort team who keep our riders safe. Andy always loved his cycle racing days and was first to put his hand to be part of the escort team. He will remembered for his support for The Tour of Ulster, Tour of the North and many of the one day classics throughout the race calendar that benefitted from a full escort.
Thank you for your service Andy from all that had the pleasure of working with you in Cycling Ulster.
