Youth Cycling Continues to Grow in North West
Foyle Cycling Club, in the North West, has continued its commitment to promoting cycling amongst young people by running two excellent youth development programmes this year that have been well attended and enjoyed by local youth with a good mix of boys and girls. The Club has secured the use of the local Health Trust estate in the evening, which offers excellent facilities – vacant car park, grass race areas, suitable climbs and descents and a wood for mountain biking. The Club fielded a strong team of committed coaches led by Mark Moroney, ably assisted by qualified coach John Daly.
A full and well planned programme of skills training and competitive and fun events was delivered and the youth were awarded prizes for a wide range of skills and competition successes and all completing the programmes received a well deserved Certificate of Achievement.
Some great photographs of the events and challenges captured the fun and the commitment of the young people and featured in the local press and on the Club Website – to the pleasure of the young participants and the clearly proud parents.
The enjoyment of the kids was apparent as was the appreciation of the parents.
The Club is delighted with the success of the two programmes and looks forward to increasing numbers for a future series as the publicity and the ‘word’ spreads”
