Tommy Given Memorial 7/6/03

Tommy Evans seems invincible on home soil. The Total Cycling- Lindsay Ford rider proved himself yet again when he won today's Tommy Given Memorial Road Race at Hillsborough.

Promoted by Maryland Wheeelers the race attracted 50 plus riders including a strong contingent from the Cycleways club. Held over 7 laps of the 9 mile Annahilt circuit early attacks from Brendan Graham, peter Hawkins, Tommy Evans and Ryan Connor were all reeled in.

It wasn't until the second last lap that a group of 15 riders went clear building up a lead of over 2 minutes on the main bunch.

With a lap to go Evans and Connor broke away and maintained their lead to the line with Evans taking the sprint easily from the young Ballymena rider.
Conor Murphy (Crannog Ireland) led in Stephen O'Sullivan (Cycleways) at 1.10 with the remainder of the break finishing 1.22 behind the winner.
