Watters and Cromie Take Wins at Seskinore

The McCann Cup at Seskinore promoted by Omagh Wheelers saw a large turn out which was split into two events. The 'A' Race was first off the mark with S2 riders given a two and a half minute advantage over the five man scratch group. The Senior 2's worked hard and began to increase their lead over scratch who eventually sat up.

Despite several attmpts by different riders the race stayed pretty much together. Coming to the line Richard Watters (Harps CC) and Cathal Smyth (Phoenix CC) got away with a short lead and sprinted for the line with Watters just getting the verdict.

It was then down to a bunch sprint with relative new comer Rory Devlin (North Pole CC) once again proving his sprinting abilities by taking third position ahead of Leo McAllister (Ballymena Scott Tiles) who was in his first race as an S2.

The 'B' Race saw Vets over 50 and new comers being given a short handicap over the remaing bunch. Ann McFarland (East Tyrone RT Autoparts) decided to join in this event. As in the previous race, no-one was allowed to escape and the pace was kept high throughout the five laps of the nine mile circuit.

The decision came down to a bunch sprint with Kyle Cromie (Roe Valley CC) taking the win by a tyre width from Colm Lynne (East Tyrone RT Autoparts) Gordon Scott (East Antrim Audi) and David Neill (Team Madigan) got the spring for third and fourth.

The event was sponsored by Hugh McCann and in Omagh's usual style, was well organised. The riders thoroughly enjoyed the course which although rolly in places was relatively traffic free.

The Halfway House pulled out all the stops and provided their usual fanatastic spread of soup, rolls, sandwiches and sweet delights. On a cold rather damp day the riders and supporters found the Halfway House a difficult place to leave. Many thanks also to Paul Devenney, Mark Kavannagh and all the other motor bike riders who marshalled the course.
